Flying into Dublin

6,000 miles later....

We.are.in.IRELAND! Wow! Dublin, to be precise. Our flights were on time, we actually arrived about 30 minutes early.It's overcast here but not raining, just a few drizzles. Mike has had his first Irish Stew....and actually liked it! :0 Those of you who know him, know what a big deal that is. We're taking it kind of easy today, cuz, in typical fashion, I didn't sleep on the plane - sooooo I'm going on 30 hours without sleep. Zzzzz We went to the National Museum of History and Archaeology-very interesting, and the Natural History Museum, which was just "okay". Going to turn in early tonight so we'll be ready to go first thing in the morning.

Wheels Up!

Finally on our way! We're currently 35,000 feet above New Mexico on our way to our connecting flight in Atlanta, then on to....Dublin! I woke up 2 hours earlier than necessary today, because the cat decided to come in and meow me at 5am, then I couldn't go back to sleep...I was too excited!

2 days to go

You know, I like to think that I'm a pretty organized person.  Then it comes down to 2 days before a big trip and I keep thinking of all kinds of little things that I probably should have done....  I should have ordered a museum pass online so I won't have to wait in line, I should have packed more warm clothes (I'm hoping I won't need more warm clothes), will two pairs of shoes really be enough, I should have lost that pesky 10 pounds I gained during the last vacation..............

The next two days will be a flurry of activity.  Church tomorrow morning, cleaning house, vaccinating the cows, hosting a birthday BBQ for my sister and nephew, celebrating an early Mother's Day with Mike's mom, laundry, packing, etc,etc, etc.

I just wish it was time to go already! =)

One week to go! After planning and researching (and saving) for a year, it's hard to believe we're almost ready to begin our Ireland/Scotland trip. I've learned a lot from guidebooks and research on the web, but the really nitty-gritty, detailed help has come from a group of really nice folks on the Tripadvisor forum.  Research is great, but sometimes you just need to talk to a local person- someone who actually lives there.

I'm a list-maker, no gettting around that.  I've had multiple lists going for this trip: what to pack, what to see, which hotels were booked, lists of potential B&B's (see next paragraph), what needs to be done at home while we're gone....

The only list that isn't finished is the itinerary.  Contrary to my normal pattern, we've decided not to book accomodation in advance for every night.  (Yikes!) We want to be somewhat flexible if we find a place we just really love and want to linger there for a bit, we can do that.  Hope that works out! ;)

Lots to do this week, so I'm glad I only have one more workday before we leave.  I have a feeling I'll be a little crazy by Monday.  :}

Success!

Okay, I finally figured out how to post a picture from my iPad. Whew!
