Ready to travel abroad again!

After two trips to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in the last 2 years and some short trips to Monterey and Bodega Bay (California), we also made a quick trip to Boston in September 2022.

This year has definitely held some challenges for me: I retired (Yay!) then found out I had breast cancer (not yay).  I had surgery to remove the tumor, then radiation therapy, and some cancer suppression meds that left me with some undesirable side effects. I'm still working with the doctors to find a med that works well for me but I am ready to travel again. Woohoo! Perhaps with an even greater appreciation for life and for the privilege of being able to visit other places and cultures and explore their history.

Currently in the works: a trip to Iceland in September of next year! I'm still working on an itinerary and ironing out some details. Hopefully we'll be traveling with some friends of ours too.

Mike and I have talked about the difference in this trip compared to others, where we normally would visit a lot of historical sites - this visit is definitely scenery-oriented. There are so many hiking opportunities! I don't know if my endurance level will allow a lot of hiking but time will tell I suppose.

After this trip, maybe we'll finally get to go to the Czech Republic to do the trip we had planned for 2020 but had to cancel due to the COVID pandemic. Switzerland and Belgium are also high on the list of places to go. Southern France, northern Italy, Croatia, Norway...There are so many places I would like to see!

Yellowstone/Grand Tetons Sept 2021

We were lucky enough to spot some Great Grey Owls on this trip.
We were able to see some Grizzly bears fairly close, I didn't even need my super long lens!

I love this shot, the symmetry of the two horses with the mountains and clouds in the background.
