The Rock of Cashel

Once a fortress of the high kings of Munster, it was given to the church in 1101AD. It sits atop a hill overlooking the city of Cashel and the surrounding area. They're doing some renovation, so we couldn't see all of it, but it's still quite impressive. Not just in size, but there is a lot of surviving detail in the buildings themselves. The view out over the area is really something, and you can see the ruins of Hore Abbey from the Rock. The day started out sunny but very windy, and soon we had rain showers so we didn't stay too long.

  1. So, what do you think of the inn I suggested? We sat at dinner in absolute ecstasy--so YUMMY!!! As I recall-it rained one day we were there as well and I just lounged all day at the inn getting our finances caught up and watching "Sex and The City" for the first time on TV.
