Why you shouldn't miss your turn

So we're humming along on our way to Kenmare and we miss the turn for the R road. Quick tutorial here: M road is motorway, like our freeways; N road is like our highways; R road is like the road by my house; L road is about as wide as my driveway through the gate. So we're on an N road and supposed to turn onto an R road, only we miss that turn, so the SatNav decides to send us down a nearby L road that connects back to the R road. This L road is maybe 6 feet wide. We're driving along and I notice people's garbage cans are at the side of the road and I say to Mike, "you know I think today is their garbage day here, I sure hope the garbage man has already made his pickup". So you know what happens about 2 minutes later, right? Yep! We come around a bend and end up face to face with the garbage truck! Well, he's not backing up and there's absolutely no room for either one of us to pull over, so we start backing up, and backing up, and backing up. Seriously, we must have backed up hundreds of feet before we finally spotted a place where we could get out of his way. And the whole time we're backing up, he's right there on our front bumper! Yikes!

  1. We can TOTALLY relate to this scenario--BUT--we never came bumper to bumper with a garbage truck. Isn't driving over there just the most exciting adventure EVER!!!!
